About the department:

The Department of Laboratory Medicine aids in the diagnosis, management, prognosis and treatment of various diseases by the physicians by performing laboratory tests which are ordered by the treating physicians. The laboratory consists of the divisions of clinical biochemistry, clinical pathology, haematology, histopathology, cytopathology, clinical microbiology, immunology, transfusion medicine and molecular diagnostics. The laboratory is NABL accredited for all the tests performed. It is also a hub for research, training undergraduate and postgraduate students and laboratory technicians in addition to taking a vital role in all the clinical research activities.

The purpose of Laboratory Medicine is to provide accurate, timely and relevant diagnostic information that supports clinical decision making and improves patient care. It also contributes significantly to public health by supporting disease surveillance, outbreak control and epidemiological research.
