The Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology conducts undergraduate and postgraduate courses and programmes in Forensic Medicine and is also a recognized centre for medico-legal work. It is engaged in teaching, training, and research and undertakes medico-legal post-mortems, Clinical Forensic Medicine Services, and court related works. The department provides expert opinions in referred cases from courts, CBI – Crime Branch, and Police from other states. The only private medical institution to conduct a Medico-legal autopsy in Tamilnadu.
